Bottle to straw cup transition - Day 2

Today is a great day

Buddy woke up at 8.30am but went back to sleep

I took this time to prepare his finger food and pasta

He woke up at 10.45am, had 6oz of bottle milk
2 hours later, he had his lunch
finger food: bake apple, butternut squash and sweet potatoes
pasta: broccoli, avacodo and cheddar cheese

 

 

 bathe and nap for 2.5 hours
Offered him 6oz of milk in straw cup, he didn't resist at all
took over the cup and kept on sipping
(I guess he was too hungry at this time)
Half way through he did fuss a little
after papa talk to him, he happily had it without making a big deal about it
very good boy!
Another accomplished day!!!

During Xavier's 12 month well check, PD advise is time to wean him off the bottles because it can create orthidontic problems with baby's teeth and jaw

I was like huh? Isn't it too early? 

 It's gonna to be difficult!

How and when should I start?

Lots and lots of question marks??????

 

Currently, buddy is having 3 bottles a day

Morning, before nap and night

Straw cup is not all new to him

He has been using the straw cup to drink his water during the day

 

So, I just decided that yesterday afternoon was a great day to start with

He drank his milk in the morning, had cereal for breakfast

had his porridge for lunch as asual

Soon it was Milk time

On this typical day he is usually reclining on the sofa

with a bottle of warm milk

But yesterday everything was the same except for the milk was in the straw cup

He took a few sip and just when I started feeling happy...

He threw it away.... he was mad and started being fussy

When he felt I was no way giving him the bottle

he cried and super whiny

The drama went on for good 1.5 hours

I didn't speak a word with him

I didn't want to be mad at him

I know its a very difficult for him or anyone who is used to doing a thing

for over an year and suddenly somebody is trying to change it

the feeling is terrible!!!!

I really felt bad for him

I consoled him and did everything to make him feel better

except for giving the bottle

 

Then, I left the straw cup on the floor and pretend that I'm not paying attention

He hesitated for a while and picks it up all by himself and gulps down

the whole cup of milk

Wow!!! Mission accomplished for the day!!!!

 

First day weaning his afternoon bottle to straw cup.

Lots of hard work and lots of whining

but all my efforts pay off.

Xavier did it and finished all his milk...

 Mama is so happy ;)

 

Buddy's new love

Buddy's new love is his box of Mega Blocks

Finally, he had succeeded stacking them together

and he loves knocking them over and over again :)

 

 

Ooh... that's my happy and cheeky boy... love him to bits!!!

 

 

 

Our First Disney on Ice - Treasure Trove Updates

We had a great time and the show was wonderful

It was held at the Allen event center

the venue was small but was great so even the nosebleed seats aren't bad at all

the show was a good 2.5 hours with an intermission half way through
I find it well worth the $20 we paid for our seats

appearance of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald - buddy so excited... kept pointing and arms up!

 

 

 My favourite part is the Lion King and the Grand Finale

Beautiful dancing & various scenes from Lion King. Amazing!

 

It was fun to see all the Prince & Princesses out at the end!

It was amazing & magical – what a great way to introduce the beauty of ice skating to my buddy plus see his favorite characters!

We had a wonderful time – every family should go!

Am glad that buddy was so well behave thoroughout the show

 

After that we went to Target and Allen and had dinner before we head home!

 Long weekends just ended like this....

Our First Disney on Ice

today we made our little buddy very happy because it's our first trip to Disney on Ice! He was a little skeptical at first... not knowing what's going to happen and Why's everyone clapping? The moment he spotted some movement and saw his favourite disney character - Mickey Mouse. He point and clap along..... cute to the Max!!! Very wonderful experience... Will update with more photos soon :)

 

 

 

Thanksgiving 2012

I came across a meaningful phrase:

"Time to give thanks to all people who came into

my life and make it outstanding, and also to

all people who walked out of my life and make it fantastic"

 

Thursday is thanksgiving in USA

First thing first, we had made our Black Friday Game Plan

We aren't the campers or the tramplers but we do appreciate

a good deal and a festive atmosphere

Even my hubby loves it!

This year, with Xavier around we had to skip all the midnight madness

Toysrus was the only place we went

 

Reached half hour before the opening time at 8pm

By then the queue was super long

but we still join in the fun!

 

Wait... Wait....Wait

Finally, the door opens

the crowd proceeded into the store in an orderly manner

After 3hours, these are what I scored:

He don't really know how to bounce yet but I know that he's trying very hard

his action really crack us up

 

On a side note, Low and Quek family will be going to Disney on Ice :)

Xavier is really interested in learning the names of things, and he tries very hard to watch my mouth and copy what I say.  Cute!

Fortnightly affair

Is time again to wash, toast, steam, grind and freeze food for buddy

I really enjoy it because it's simple, declicious and nutritious

and is made full of love...

 

Buddy makes me happy as I see him devoured his new food -  Chicken fillet, parsnip, salmon and asapargus

buddy's lunch for the day - brown rice with pumpkin, potato, corn, pea, carrot, salmon and egg yolk....super yummy...

Our Simple Monday

12 Nov Monday - Veteran's Day

 

The morning temperature drop to 3 to 4 degrees

So, we did not want to go anywhere far

As usual, fed him lunch and

off we went to have our lunch at Vietnamese restaurant

and grocery shopping at Hmart

we ended the day with our daily walk around the apartment

Love the simple but happy monday :)
