Potty Training Day 4

Today, buddy went public for the first time since we started letting him poo in the potty! We left home at 6am in the morning to the army camp to have our military ID processed. At 8.30am, buddy did show signal of pooing. This is what I told him, "Sorry baby, I do not have the potty with mama, are you able to hold it until we reached home?"

Babies are so remarkable, buddy seems to understand! He made it the whole time without an accident. He didn't even seem to have to go potty until about 30mins after we arrived home. And indeed, buddy had a success on the potty, i just tell him "you did it" and show him what he did.

Buddy was so proud of  himself! Not as proud as his papa and I were, of course!

He never ceases to amaze us!!!!

Stage 1: Potty training - Pooing

Being a stay at home mom now, I can get to spend 24/7 of my time with my little buddy. The bonding between us is getting extremely strong and I know that this special connection will continue to grow!!!

My little buddy is 7mths 2wks old today. Although he still do not have the verbal skills, he'll communicates by sending out signals and cues. There are different cues for hunger, tired, bored and need for closeness. And now, he added another special nonverbal cue for pooing- he will fart and stare in space whenever he needs to poo and grunt while he's in the act of pooing.

For 3 days, he has been pooing in his froggy potty :) Keep up the good job, buddy!!  I'm going to establish a schedule for potty and hopefully will let him fall into a daily rhythm.

Our Sunday Morning

Target is having super deal for Fisher price baby toys- BOGO 50% off. I've got buddy a laugh and learn puppy $19.99 and a turtle shape sorter $10.59. After promtion and stacking with a $5 and $3 off coupon, I only paid $18 for both toys... ;)

Our Late Saturday Lunch

This week is our 3rd week in USA, brought mum to try out her first fast food - chick-fil-a. She ordered the classic chick-fil-a chicken sandwich. Her comments - sandwich is too big and dry. Indeed, the food was not as nice as it used to be!!!

Anyway, little buddy love the playground area in the restaurant but he's too young for it...all he could do was to give us an envious look when he sees other children running around the play area. This is what we told him, your turn will come soon, be patient buddy !!!

A nice aunty in the restaurant passed buddy a balloon. This was his first experience with a ballon and he's so fascinated with it. LOL! We have also started training buddy on his fine motor skills - pincer grasp. He has started to use his thumb and forefinger to pick up his favourite puff. Although the success rate is only 1 out of 5, we are happy about it. It is all about buddy enjoying this important hands on learning experience. Way to go, buddy!!!

This is my sleeping baby. He bring so much joy everyday. No words can describe the blessing God has given us by letting us be your papa and mama. You put so many smiles on our faces. We just love every moment we get to spend with you :)

Starting of my long weekend!

Friday, is family day so Hubby do not have to report to work!!! Yeah... we are having 4 days of super long weekend :) So, we have a change of plan. To avoid the crowd, we decided to make a trip to Allen on Friday instead of Saturday.

We started our day late at 11am, we had home cooked porrige and our little buddy had his yobaby yogurt before we set off to Super Target. I'm so...so... into couponing and had a crazy time there. I bought lots of stuff and paid only $10. So proud of myself LOL!

This is what I've bought:

• 2 Garnier Shampoo $0.98 each
• 2 Garnier Condition $0.98 each
• 8 boxes Magnum ice cream for $0.50 each
• 2 boxes of quaker chewy bar $1 each

Super satisified with my buys!!! This is something you can never achieve in Singapore.

Anyway, our next stop is Allen. They are having pre-memorial day sales. The sales are really good! Most of the brands are having additional 40-70% for clearance items. We took about 5 hours to walk through allen.. Phew super tired day! Had our dinner along Legacy Drive and headed home at 10pm. Our little buddy was totally knock out in his car seat on our way home!!!

New food on the menu

Today, little buddy had mixed vegetable with baby rice for brunch. It's make up of spinach, carrot and peas. The puree is green in colour and it does not taste good. I don't like it. I hesitate for a second whether I should offer to little buddy.... I did and he just love it!!!

Lesson learn: My personal taste in vegetables should not determine which vegetables baby should try out.

So far, little buddy is having 2 servings of vegetable and 1 serving of fruit per day. He had banana puree for late lunch as snack and green bean puree for dinner. He took his milk 3.5-4 hourly interval at 200ml.

Plans for his next week menu:

Vegetable - Broccoli, Cauliflower and cottage cheese

Fruit - Avocado with banana

Might be adding Parsnips to the menu but I'm still exploring :) 

Our First Long weekend - Memorial Day

I'm so looking forward to the long holiday weekend coming up. An extra day with my hubby and little buddy. So far the only plans we have are our date with Candy and lynn to Allen premium outlet and to grab our BBQ stuff at Taiwan supermarket.

Memorial Day weekend always seem like the official kick-off to Summer picnics and BBQ. Here's hoping our BBQ on Sunday evening will be a good one :)

p.s just gotten huggies swimmer diaper and sunscreen for little buddy. We are all set for our first dip in the pool.

Peek-a-boo

Little buddy loves playing peek-a-boo! He will holds a blanket over his face and then swipes it back down over and over again. I say "where's Xavier?" and then "I found you!" and we both crack up. Loving every fun moments!

Naughty little buddy

Our little buddy loves to throw toys and hanky on the floor...anything you can find on the high chair will be found laying on the floor in seconds. I think that's how baby learn about cause and effect. It's just fascinating to him!!! Oh, that's my naughty boy!

First Stroll

Did our first stroll outside our apartment this morning. Wanna to let little buddy try walking on the concrete pavement with his soft sole shoe. He absolutely loves to walk, assisted of course!!!

Little buddy new found friend

On Saturday, we went Target together with the newly arrived groups to sign up for our phone lines. Our initial plan was to wait for the launch of the IPHONE 5 but it will only be released in September. So, leaving with not much choices, we took IPHONE 4GS instead. It cost us USD150 for each set :)

Anyway, our little buddy also get to see Genevieve jie jie, Lucas gor gor, Aunty winnie, uncle eric, Owyang gor gor and eileen jie jie the every first time. At first, I'm worried that our little buddy will cry when he saw unfamiliar faces but too my surprise, he is doing great with them. Everyone, including Genevieve, take turns to carry him.

After that, we went to I love Pho to have our lunch. We put Xavier on the high chair next to us, he self entertain himself while we had our lunch. He's such a good boy!!! Genevieve came over to our table and started playing with Xavier and I can feel that he likes her company... Xavier keeps holding on to her hand Oh gosh... children are so cute!!! Little buddy new found friend :)

Ikea and stonebriar mall were our next stop and ended our day at Sura Korean restaurant for dinner.

First Experience using Munchkin feeder

While having our dinner, we let our little buddy have a try using the munchkin fresh food feeder. We put a slice of apple in the feeder for him to munch without having to worry about choking. He can't really munch coz he doesn't have teeth yet but i think he's enjoying the process.

Best Time of My Life

I think I should pause a moment and really appreciate my current life.

It's the best time of my life and I love being a SAHM ;D

I hope that one day when he has all grown up, he will remember all the moments mama spent with him.  

Anyway, after having our home cooked lunch, we head out to ToysRus for the "One day Member Mega Coupon Event", they are having diapers, laundry detergent and educational DVD etc on sales. I bought:

Thinking of getting a teether for little buddy, so we went over to walmart. But in the end, I bought alot more :) The baby stuff are alot alot cheaper than Singapore, I just can't help it.

Throughout our shopping trip, our little buddy was so well-behaved. He just sit quitely in the push cart and very attentive to what is going on around him. Love him to bits!!!!

Letter to my little buddy

Dear Xavier,

You are growing up so quickly. There are days where I wish I could bottle up the first year and keep you in it forever. But I know I just can't do that. Like all good things, they get better with age. You are so different than you were a few months ago, but you are so amazing. Everything you do is exciting, adventurous, always changing. I love to watch you explore new things, discover your abilities, and venture into new activities. It's exciting as a mom to watch my baby grow up before my eyes. Every moment I get to spend with you is just amazing. I'm so thankful for the time I get to spend with you, especially now that I'm a SAHM. I get to spend every moment possible with you and I'm just thrilled about the chance to watch all the firsts you still have in store.

Speaking of firsts! You are closer and closer every day to walking on your own. You love to walk around the house, but you just can't do it on your own. You wait for mama or papa or ah ma to take your hands so you can guide us where you want to go. It is always so exciting to watch where you guide us. It's only a matter of time before you take your first steps on your own. And then we better all watch out! You're going to be trouble on two feet!

I just look forward to that day and although I want to keep you as my little baby forever, all things grow and change. That's part of what makes life so exciting. I'll be waiting for those changes as you grow!

I can't wait to see what's in store in the months and years down the road. But for right now, I'll just watch you sleep, wonder what you're dreaming about and love you in every way I know how.

Learning to clap...clap...clap

Our little buddy is almost 7mths 1wk oldnow. He is one cheerful baby and it has been such a joy just playing and looking at him.

And we have discovered just a day ago, our little buddy is learning to clap whenever he is happy and excited. The feeling is totally out of this world... simply awesome... definitely another milestone to be captured and to be remember by....

First time on the shopping cart

After our dinner, we make our way to toysrus and target to check out some deals. We decided to let our little buddy try sitting in the shopping cart for the every first time. He did it very well... he knew where to hold on to and how to balance himself. Good Job, Baby Xavier!!!

I think is time for me to buy a shopping cart cushion to protect baby from pesky germs.
