Cultural Fun with Incredible kids

27 March 2014
2 weeks ago, Xavier's school hosted its 2nd Annual Cultural Day
The group of Singapore mummies signed up and put together a simple but yet informative
presentation to all the kids and teachers
Taking time to teach the kids about other cultures while they are young is such a valuable lesson. Very meaningful and memorable experience!

After weeks of planning and discussion...
DADA~~  here's our booth
presentation board, flag as souvenir and roti prata as local food for them to try

The following were the countries presented by other parents:

The kids were divided into groups... 1st group were the bigger kids

they were so attentive
All thanks to Meiling for her creative presentation

Roti Prata was a hit... most of the kids and teacher loved it so much
thumbs up!

Xavier trying his best to be attentive .... but I doubt he understood

after the kids visited all the booth... they were all given a sticker on the passport
love it!

Till next time :)

Xavier's 1st Scooter Experience

19 January 2014

Brought Xavier for a haircut at Pro Salon after his hair was once again
ruin by his "Bu Si Xing" papa
Luckily, the hairdresser was able to salvage it and he looked so much better now

papa took his super cute sleeping pose when he was drooling! LOL!

After a short nap in the car, we had some fun time at Toysrus

Spotted a motorized scooter on display..
Xavier tried and did not want to let go for it!
He keep asking "Papa, push please"

Almost forgotten, I bought a radio flyer scooter at a super good deal sometime back
So, we took it out and let him try
I spent a few minutes showing him how to push off with his foot and then he was off
I was shocked how quickly he got it
Time to get him a helmet!!!

A visit to Fort Worth Zoo

2 Nov 2013

Two weekends ago, we took Xavier to the Fort Worth Zoo and it was so fun!
Beautiful weather made for a perfect day at the zoo
This zoo is amazing! WAAAY better than Dallas Zoo

Here are some pictures from the day

Getting ready to ditch the stroller to explore the zoo

Checking out the monkeys

This cheetah was so close! He was pacing up and down along the fences

Checking out the rhino

The orangutans were so energetic...enjoyed doing tricks and acting kind of silly up and down on his climbing structure
Xavier watched him probably for 15 mins... he was totally fascinated

I think this gorilla is pregnant... her belly is so huge!

Baby chimp was putting quite a show... swing up and down the vine
The chimp even stomp on the window when we stand close to the glass

Took a short break to enjoy snacks

We had lunch inside MOLA, the museum of living art
The crocodile café shares a window with the crocodile exhibit

Baby animals - elephants and giraffe

Xavier is getting a lot more independent day by day!
He loves walking together with us :)

One of the highlights of our visit was the show put on by the lion
We have never seen one awake, most lions are always asleep
but this one growled and roared for several minutes
It was incredible loud and intimidating

On to raptor canyon. This is a Harpy Eagle who was enjoying a meal of freshly  caught rat!
Feel so disgusted...

Now on to something more pleasant!
I loved the aviary cage in the zoo, which is filled with many parakeets and cockatiels
We purchase the food stick for USD 1
The birds will land on the food stick and practically eat right out of our hand
we waited for quite sometime finally a bird landed on our stick
Xavier has never seen bird up so close... he did fine and seemed to really enjoy it

There is just nothing like taking Xavier to the zoo
Yes, it can be exhausting to spend all day walking around a concrete path and looking at some stinky animals. But the joy and wonder on his face make it so worth it.

Till next time :)
