Shave or not to shave???

Xavier got a few bald patches from lying on his back too much
Thought of shaving his hair... so that can grow more evenly
Currently, he has nice beckham hairstyle which I couldn't bear to shave off. I'm afraid that once I shave it off, it will not be as nice as what he's having now.

HOW.... Shave or not to shave?????

Is it true that shaving a baby's head (or cutting his hair very short) makes the hair grow in thicker and stronger?

If yes, I will do it!!!!!

First Trip to Resort World Sentosa

Three days of Chinese New Year isn't enough for us! So Hubby & I took another 2 days leave to spent more time with our little Xavier.

Visiting the yearly River Ang Bao / 春到河畔 and Chinatown is always a must in our family activities but this year is so different. To avoid the huge huge crowd, we plan a night stay at Resort World Sentosa- Michael's Hotel. Thanks, sis for the arrangment! I guess we can only start visiting those events when Xavier is older.

My Holiday has come to an end.... Tomorrow have to go back to work again..... :((

First Family outing for 2012

Well today, we had quite a few things planned out. The first on the list was to bring Baby Xavier to Boon Keng for his 2nd hair cut for this coming Chinese New Year.....his hair is really growing out of control.

Next on the list was to satisfy our craving for Cupcakes for our tea time while baby took his nap. Not just any Cupcakes but Twelve Cupcakes at UE Square #B1-60 by Jamie & Daniel. My sis ordered 6nos for $17 bucks... what is there to love about this? The cupcakes are so delicious, so moist and the topping are so special. Will definitely go back for more!

Ok, with that done, we headed to Great World City for Espirit Sales with staff purchase. With additional 40% on top off already 50% clearance stocks... Amazing right! Bought 2 pair of jeans, 1 Crop pants and 1 slipper for office wear :)

After our happy purchase, we had our dinner at food junction but before that we bought xavier to the nursery room to get his diaper change. The room is so spacious and it comes with 2 partition room for breast feeding and express mums.... it also comes with hot water as well....

First weekend after going back to work, how i wish I can woke up late on a Saturday morning

Guess what, Xavier woke up at 6am for milk and started playing with papa & mama

He has started to laugh out loud too and this definitely bring a smile to our face :)

12 weeks of bliss

Well, now that it's Tuesday evening, my maternity leave is officially over.

I can't believe how fast this 12 weeks has flown by and that I am already facing the reality of going back to work tomorrow.

Luckily for me that I only have three days of work this week and then only 5 more work days after that until a one week break for Chinese New Year.

With those breaks in mind, I honestly am not dreading going back to work.

I am going to miss Xavier like crazy during the day, but on the other hand, I'm ready to resume a bit of a life outside of the house. But for now, here's a cute picture.....

Xavier went for his 3rd month vaccination. Instead of having his usual 6-in-1, Dr Ong recommended pneumococcal vaccine. This vaccine is to fight against Streptococcus pneumonia which is also known as pneumococcus. There are more than 90 subtypes of this bacterium. Pneumococcus can attack different parts of the body leading to serious infection of the following systems:

Lungs (pneumonia)
Blood (bacteraemia)
Coverings of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis)
Middle ear (acute otitis media)prevent pneumonia and it can be deadly if infected.

Patients with pneumococcal pneumonia may develop lung abscess and pericarditis (inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart). Pneumococcal meningitis may cause significant learning disabilities, speech delays, paralysis and even death. Hearing impairment can occur from recurrent otitis media.

The best way to protect against PD is through vaccination and is highly recommended by Health Promotion Board (HPB).

This vaccine consist of 2 dosages, decided to split up the jabs instead of letting Xavier have 2 jabs at a time......... hence, will have to inject alternate months with his 6-in-1 which means 4th month (6-in-1, 2nd dose), 5th (pneumococcal 2nd dose), 6th month (6-in-1, 3rd dose)... All the vaccines will then be completed by 6 months. OMG, the thought of it is so painfully lor.... my poor little boy still has to go through 3 more injections. No choice, I know is good for him................

My sweetie pie has grown so much... he is much braver than before... he cry lesser and babble more.. even Dr Ong commented that he is talkative... LOL!

p.s. At 11 weeks, weighs 6.225kg height 61cm......:) Irritated look after the jab... LOL!

Playtime with papa & mama, right after feed... Xavier in his most relax and alert mode.

In the first month or 2, baby still won't appreciate toys that much so I would think that parents are his first toys. We strongly believe that skills necessary in development, both physical and emotional, can be nurtured through play. So, we make it a point to include at least half hour to an hour of playtime right after feed depending on his mood.

p.s. Increase milk intake to 160ml to 4.5-5 hourly. Next to train - to sleep through the night, not sure whether it is too early, have to check with PD.

Tomorrow, Xavier will have his 2nd dose of 6-in-1 injection. Hope everything will be well.

Hello 2012, goodbye maternity leave

Counting down to 11 Jan 2012.... just another 8 more days, I will be back to work :(
Wow, where did those 3 months go?
The thought of going back to work at the end of my maternity leave can be quite heart breaking. But I know that somethings are inevitable.
There are so much things to do/prepare/arrange just to make sure that the transition is easier for us and baby:

Mentally prepare myself - the thought of it make me feel sad & guilt to part with baby almost the whole day, definitely will miss his smiles & squeals

Care taker - my mom will be taking care baby while I'm at work... feeling more at ease knowing that baby will be in the hands of someone I trust instead of sending him to infant care

Decided to continue with breast-feeding - need a space in the office to express every 3 hourly (office design is open concept, the only place i can think of is the store room... but i think it will be super stuffy so i will need a fan :))... other than that also need to prepare the breast feeding essentials -sterilize pumps, bottles, storage milk bag, ice pack & cooling bag etc - all these have to be readily pack the night before.

Baby's feeding schedule - now baby is fed 140ml every 4 hourly: 9am,1pm,5pm, 9pm,1am,5am - still able to feed him when i am back from work, bonding is something not to be miss.

Stocking up express breast milk - for the past weeks, I have been exclusively pumping... freezing all the excess BM... heard from some mummies that the supply will be affected after returning to work, probably due to stress ba... and some find it too troublesome and give up along the way... What I need is determination.... do not use the ruse of work not to breast feed my baby!!!!

Personally, i feel that balancing work and baby is no mean task. Successful working mum must have the ability to manage time and prioritize. Hope that I can handle it well.

Alone in the night

Today hubby is on guard duty
So, I'm taking care of Xavier alone in the night :)
Yeah! Looking forward to that althought it can be pretty stressful at times.

What has Xavier been doing during the day???

As usual, took his 4hours of nap and play & talk with his grandparents. Xavier loves to talk now especially to his grandma. So much until he refused to take his nap, so worry that he might be cranky and fuzzy at night.

Luckily, all went well. He fell asleep at 6pm and woke up (with his eye close) for his milk after 5 long hours of nap. After that, he continue his sleep and woke at 3am for his first night feed.....Next feed will be at 7am. Now, his is back to his "lala land" again. Bye, going to join my little one in his dreams. :)

p.s. Tomorrow, hubby will be on day off -- planning to bring Xavier out for a walk... maybe to "Changi point" - hope the weather will be good- rain rain go away, come again another day please... :)

Nap time

Xavier used to wakes up after an hour of sleep, which I thought is normal to have short naps at this age so I will just picked him up and to go along the day... but after talking to some mummies and his masseuse then I realised that he actually needed more sleep, even if he was laughing and playing.

So I started compulsory rest or nap time. even if he doesn't want to sleep. He will rest. Everyday, after his bath and milk, he will stay on bed for at least 2 hours, sometimes he will self entertain in his cot for two whole hour by himself and fall asleep at the end of it, sometimes he goes straight to bed immediately.

Whatever the case is, this rest time is "compulsory" and is definitely does him good, he is exceptionally happy after the nap and like us, he needs a quiet time to rest too, be it nap or not. this is one area I am rather proud to say, has been very successful... now his nap time can stretch up to 4 hours per nap (currently have 2 naps per day) ... it hard to describe how we do it, some how he knows it and he expects the rest time and it does wonder for everyone. (hope he can stay this way.....:))

Our little darling boy is at his two months yesterday! He now weighs 5.3kg and with a height of 59cm. I was just scrolling through my collection of Xavier's photo & was amazed with the changes in him. Just for comparison:

No major difference about one month ago, on the 13 November 2011....

This is a huge difference - Two months ago, on the 17 October 2011...
He looks so much more fragile when he was one month old! (of course la!)

And yes, we are still taking photo & videos for him EVERY SINGLE DAY! Our cameras has already clocked more than 2000 shots! Need to capture and cherish every moments!

Another 3 more days, my little boy will be 2 months old. Time really passes so quickly. I'm so glad that everyday I can witness his little changes / improvement but sad to say I will need to go back to work in another 4 weeks time :(

We have started to bring Xavier out for a few times.
For the past 2 weekends, we have brought him to Bugis & Vivo for our Christmas shopping. Bringing out such a little one is rather tiring .... lots of stuff to bring along... lots of diapers, extra clothings, diaper cream, yue yee oil, jacket, bibs, blanket, thermal flask etc...
u name it, i have it...
But.... the feeling is just so awesome!

Just to pop by to note down that Xavier do not like tummy time. He like mama and papa time – doing tummy time on mama and papa chest!

We are so pleased that he have progressed from not being able to control his head to having some strength to lift his head up and shifting his head around. We tried to do it on our bed but he will only allowed us to let him be in his tummy position for a while. Mostly, he will start to complain and cry to get us to put him back on his back. Neverthless, I still try to give him more tummy time when he is happy!

The Angel and the Devil

Xavier has been cranky for the past few days. He is having kind of a blocked nose as we can hear the sound coming out when he tries to breathe. It looks like it is making him rather uncomfortable as he is breathing very hard. Feeling much better after his routine massage.

This is Xavier the Angel. Smiling. Looking at you. Looking around. And he loves looking into my camera. Not showing the devil Xavier anymore.

How to relieve a baby of crying? It seems like there are five "S"s to it.
Swaddling. Use a not so hot blankets to swaddle him up. So far, this is the most effective method.

Side or Stomach holding to ease the baby. Not the safest for the baby to sleep but the lying back is the worst way to ease a fussy baby.
Shhh sound. Do a shhh sound near his ear. Studies have shown that this mimic the white noise in the womb and can pacify some of the babies.

Swinging the baby back and forth gently.

Sucking. Using of a pacifier or something for him to suck on.

As any mother knows, we just want our babies to feel better quickly and we'll do whatever we have to do to help them — no matter how much it inconveniences us or hurts our backs! Of couse, my back was seizing up and pinching every time I inhaled. Last night, Xavier was a little whiny... Hubby & I didn't get much sleep. We took turn to cradle him and took his temperature hourly. We just want give him as much comfort as possible.

Thank God! Xavier 's fever is gone and his smile is back :)

Heart Pain

Ooh... Xavier went for his jab yesterday and it's definitely breaks my heart seeing him in pain
He is so so brave... he stop crying the moment papa carry him
He talks in his baby language and it seems like he is complaining to us and asking why he has to go through this... so poor thing right! Very heartache......

After Xavier's massage, his body started to feel a bit warm but not quite a fever, his foot are a little cold.... took his temperature 37.9 degrees. Gave him the cooling plaster.... going to monitor him hourly. Will give him paracetamol (prescribe by doctor) if the condition worsen.

Pray hard that he will be well soon....

At 6 weeks old, Xavier will be having his 1st jab tomorrow.
I'm a first time mum, I don't know what to expect after the vaccination.
I know that each child is different and their reactions may be different.

Will he cry for a long period of time?
Will he get a fever after shot?
Will he feel hurt/discomfort when changing diaper?
Will he be cranky?

Hopefully, it will go smoothly for us...

I can't believe that Xavier is 1 month old today!! He is growing so fast. His is cooing, and gurgling, and making squeals all the time. He loves to look at all sorts of things, and LOVES for you to talk to him and sing songs. He is such a joy to our hearts.

During the 3hours, mum:

Change diaper once

Fed him 110ml of EBM - seems full but after a while rooting around again like he is hungry LOL!Mum gave him the pacifier and he took it ... so he is just looking to be soothed & not hungry

After feeding, went for 2 full hour of sleep

everything went so well.... :)

It's been 9 months without facial, booked a session on Saturday, 5pm @ JeanYip together with sis.. Yippi!!!

Confinement coming to an end ( 1 more day to go)

My confinement is the most enjoyable month in my life.
I'm not working = no stress = Can get time to bond with my little one everyday
Get to enjoy all different types of delicious confinement food & my fav red dates water.

All thanks to mum!
She took care all my needs, cook for my food, wash baby clothings and also prepare my herbs bathing water. while, I take care of baby needs like changing of diaper, bathing & feeding etc.

I follow the rules and regulations of chinese confinement moderately.

I ate balance diet, like some carbohydrates, vegetables, protein (eg. beans, fish, pork and chicken) - my fav cod fish, pig organ soup and papaya soup :)

I washed my hair alternate days with herbs and warm water. I did try the dry shampoo (in powder form), but I don't like it! It was messy and I fell it make my hair even dirtier!

I had my first bath after 1 week of my delivery and after that I bath everyday with herbs and warm water. My doctor actually recommended me to take my bath everyday and keep personal hygienic seriously because I was breastfeeding and dirty body my cause infection or slower down my wound recovery (I had c-section for my delivery)!

I went out a few times to buy baby stuff and I wear shorts and singlet at home. According to my grandma, all new mums are suppose to stay home for 1 month and have to wear long cloths, socks and slipper to prevent wind getting to the body. Luckily, mum is flexible on this :)

I drank alcohol soup only once at night (after my breastfed and before went to bed). The soup cooked with DOM, chicken or pork and some Chinese herbs.

I also took my vitamin and calcium supplements to help my recovery.

I ate ginger moderately as well. My mum cooked most of my food with sesame oil and ginger.

Even after confinement, Mum will continue to brew the nutritious soup so as to improve and sustain my breast milk. I really hope that I can breastfeed Xavier as long as I could or at least until he is 6 months of age becasue breastfeeding offer so much benefits for the mother and baby. Baby will have stronger immune system and created a stronger bonding between baby & mother. Nursing will also help to shed pounds more quickly. This is because the body burns calories while it makes breast milk.

We will invite about 60 guests and we have ordered their in house catering service. Hope the food is nice! The issue for catering for a function is that, you are scared of too much left overs yet you absolutely cannot live with too little food... that will be too rude or too paisieh!!!!! We decided to cater for more food, since we are happy to give away whatever left over and more is better than less..... 70% of the guests should be fine i think....hmmm!!!

Our first destination, to Mount Alvernia for a follow up checkup with your PD, Dr Simon Ng.

-Weight has Increased: Weighs at 3.07 @ 7 days old
-Jaundice level has improved: continue to monitor, normally will go off by itself in 2 weeks
-No. of soil diaper per day: 4-5 times; poo at least 3 times (these are all signs that baby is getting enough milk)
-Will see him again in a month's time for your vaccine

Next, we brought you to Mount E to follow up for mama's stitches. Everything went well, the wound is healing fast, the stitches are very nicely done, not visible at all. We also did a little shopping at Paragoon. Papa & Mama feel so proud :)

Here he is! Xavier finally arrived on the 12 October 2011, 2256h. He weighs at 3.22kg, 54cm long.

Baby Xavier is currently still in the nursery care due to jaundice. He is undergoing photo theraphy. Did a blood test this morning, the level of jaundice had reduced but doc still prefer him to stay another day for observation. Praying hard that he will be discharge by tomorrow.

Less than 24 hours, we will be going from couple to family

And I am definitely cleaning up my room & going through all baby stuff one last time before setting out for the hospital in another 4 hours.

It has been 38 weeks & 3 days. We can't wait any longer.

We are so excited that we will be holding our little one in our arms in less than 24 hours!

Week 38 = End Is Near!

Our week 38 scan, baby Xavier now weighs 3.45kg. Singapore average baby size is 3.2kg and anything above 3.5kg is considered big.

Dr Ong dropped a bomb and asked if we are willing to consider inducing labour earlier (EDD 22 OCT) in the hope of letting the baby come out while he is still average size. Hmm, I have never ever thought about it and has assumed that I will go into labour naturally. Baby Xavier is growing really well and putting on weight being a big baby, the doc does not appear comfortable for me to deliver him naturally and definitely not at week 40.

After our discussion, we have decided to induce labour tonight. Brief explanation by Dr Ong: The midwife will insert a tablet containing prostaglandin into the vagina to soften or ripen the cervix. It is the most commonly use method, it often work better with less risks. The cervical ripeness will be monitor throughout the night, the riper it is the more chances that I will go into labour. There will be also chances that there is no reaction to the cervix muscle, in these circumstances, Dr Ong will then have to either use other methods of induce or carry out caesarean.

I pray for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. I pray for God to calm my nerves and spirit and for his angels to be with me as I deliver! God Bless!

I have finally done up my birth plan to meet Dr Ong tomorrow. Yeah!

Instead of all the long stories, i just cut it short and only included stuff i am concerned with.

Note: At any stage of my labour, should the need arises please discuss any proposed intervention with my husband before proceeding.

Birth Method: Natural vaginal delivery preferred. Unless there is a medical emergency, I would like to avoid a cesarean

Pain Relief: Natural pain relief (gas) preferred. I will ask for epidural if necessary

Vaginal Examination: Preferred to be kept to the minimum

Upon Baby's Birth: I wish to have my baby brought to me immediately after birth before any administrative procedure is carry out

Cutting of Cord: We would wish for my husband to cut baby's umbilical cord

Cord Blood: CordBlood will be donated to SCBB

Feeding preference: I would like to begin nursing right after birth & would not like any bottles to be given to my baby (including glucose water)

Misc Details: I would like to have photographs taken during labour and birth

New mum and dad to be will always feel excited when comes to naming their little one. The old folks generally belief that names have an influence on the child's life, either better or for worse. So, we have to consider the qualities of the character which make up their name.

Choose the name by the following principles:

Genealogy and Chinese Names

So far, we have decided on either:

刘瑞凯(Pinyin: Low Rui Kai)
刘杰凯 (Pinyin: Low Jie Kai)

For the naming process, we have to forward Baby Xavier's date & time of birth and both parent chinese names to the Shi Fu that we have appointed. Then, he will take 2-3 days to calculate to get the best character/names. Got a recommendation through a few friends. His charges is kinda reasonable only $88

Yeah! Finally 1 thing settle on my do to list. :)

Group B Strep Test - cleared

Went for my last test in my last trimester of pregnancy - Group B Strep Test. This test is to detect a kind of bacteria that many people harbour in their intestinal tracts. The bacteria may also inhabit at the vagina as well and passed on to your baby during labour and birth. This test is normal screened at the late pregnancy stage, if found positive, it can be easily treated with antibiotic and will greatly reduce baby's risk of becoming infected.

The screening takes less than a minutes, very similar to pap smear, the nurse just need to do a swap to obtain the tissue at the cervix and send it for lab testing. I just got the result today, I'm not positive. Yeah! Yeah! No additional pills for me. Thank God!

3 weeks of advance leave... is for me have lots of rest and to prepare for the arrival of my little one. But no matter how long I slept at night and how many times of afternoon naps I took.... is just ain't enough. I still feel restless. I can feel that my body is getting weaker seems like baby has absorb all my antibodies. I am now having bad flu, my nose is constantly runny and stuffed up. I am wondering is this an early sign of labour? I did a search on web but can't seems to find anything on it. Instead of worrying of labour, Hubby and I did a mask together... our first ever mask together hahaha! Feeling so relax now!!!!

Donation of Cord blood

After doing some research and talking to Dr Ong on Cord blood donation /banking, we have decided that I would donate my baby's cord blood to Singapore Cord Blood Bank (SCBB). The fact is:

1.If the child is already sick, s/he cannot use back his/her own cord blood, so I felt that is pointless in spending money to bank the cord blood.
2.If the cord blood can help someone with a life-threatening disease, I think why not? After all, if not donated or banked, it is simply discarded after the birth of the baby. An utter waste if you ask me.

The process for donating baby's cord blood is very easy. I have just contacted SCBB and we have arranged to meetup at my place tomorrow to go through the donation agreement. very good service indeed!

So happy, I have helped baby Xavier to do his first charity act!!!!

Point to note - Mummies and daddies please note that if you did not pledge to donate your cordblood before birth, the cordblood will be thrown away... it's not a automatic procedure ... so if you are keen to donate, do remember to contact SCBB after week 32 of gestation.

Since you never know when your baby will arrive, it's a good idea for you to be knowledgeable on the signs of labor.

Bloody show - If this is your first pregnancy, you may pass your mucus plug a few weeks before labor actually starts. When you lose your mucus plug, you may notice stringy mucus that is tinged with pink, red, or brown blood.

Sudden burst of energy - Some women go into major nesting mode right before their labor begins. If you've been exhausted, and all of a sudden, you get an unexpected burst of energy, you're nesting. You may have an uncontrollable urge to clean, or reorganize the shelves in your home. Remember not to overdo it. You are going to need your energy for labor and delivery.

Your water breaks - When the amniotic sac breaks, it's time to call your doctor. In most cases, you will already be having contractions when your water breaks. Sometimes, contractions occur afterwards. Unlike on TV, you may not experience a huge gush of water. Rather, you may notice a small trickle of fluid.

Diarrhea - Some pregnant women experience diarrhea in the 24 to 48 hours before they go into labor.

Contractions - At 37 weeks pregnant, if you go into true labor, you will start to experience contractions that get increasingly stronger, last longer, and get closer together. At first, your contractions may be 20 minutes apart, and a few hours later, they are 10 minutes or 5 minutes apart. Sometimes, you may get regular contractions out of the blue and with no warning. Well we were a little shock today. Baby has grew so much. He's 3.1kg now at week 37 and at the rate he puts on weight each week, doc predicted that he will be over 3.5kg pretty soon.... Whoo~~ "A big baby to be"

I'm in my 37 weeks of pregnancy. It is getting physically challenging and tiring to do anything..... anything at all. So, I have officially started clearing my annual leave from 1 Oct before my EDD to stay home, get plenty of rest and get everything sorted for baby Xavier's arrival.

Yesterday was really bad, my backache was terrible. I was unable to sleep throughout the night. My body is feeling warm despite the aircon. Feeling so restless the whole day. Sigh......luckily, I have done quite a lot of stuff already and I should be able to handle the outstanding items on my list over the next 3 weeks, a little a day. :)

Seems like my bump has grew faster & bigger day by day, I find it diffcult to wear my pants and can't walk without looking like a penguin.... LOL!

Although I love being pregnant at this stage (feeling of Xavier's kicks and punches), I can't wait to hold our precious little one in our hands.

A little regret

Wow! It's almost time, to greet baby into his new world. What is happening now?

1.Baby weighs from 6 to 7 ½ pounds.
2.He measures 18 to 20 inches.
3.This is his "finishing" stage, and baby gains a tremendous amount of subcutaneous fat, filling him out for birth.
4.The lanugo hair has disappeared.
5.Some of the vernix caseosa has disappeared, and it seems that just enough of this cheesy substance remains to lubricate him for a smoother passage during birth.
6.By this time baby has pretty much run out of room and is tucked up like a little ball.
7.During the final weeks inside the womb, baby sucks, swallows, breathes, and blinks.
8.He steps, turns his head, and sucks his thumb.
9.He grasps and clasps his hands, practicing all the movements he will need after he makes his appearance in the world.
10.The air sacs of his lungs are now lined with a substance called surfactant, that keep the lungs expanded after each breath, enabling nearly all babies born at this stage (even early in this stage) to breathe air outside the womb.

Went for my 31 weeks ultrasound

Baby Xavier now weighs almost 2kg, 500g heavier than normal

Now the baby is too long to be captured within utltrascan...

The space in my womb gets tighter and tighter and BB Xavier will eventually run out of room to move about, so I will start to experience discomfort or painful when he kicks or his sudden change in movement

BB Xavier have already flipped into the head down position which is the best position for vaginal delivery "thumbs up for Xavier"

Doc also check the level of amniotic fluid - everything is normal

As the delivery date is getting nearer, will visit the doc for follow up in 2 weeks time (5 sept)

We are in the midst of doing up Baby Xavier's nursery... we got him a cot mobile..... purchase from a nice mummy from singapore motherhood... original price $130, we got it only for $50 Very good deal!

Belly continues to grow…. Bigger and bigger.

I’m getting clumsier… hard to breath… hard to move… means I’m getting lazier!

I wake up 3-4 times middle of the night to run to toilet

Can’t stand for long, walk for long… means less shopping. Luckily, 70% of the nursery shopping done. .However, not really prepare the things for my confinement month like maternity bras, nursing pads, confinement herbs etc

Baby very active, get to see my belly movement very often, but sometimes just can't figure out whether is bb Xavier's tiny foot or hand

I feel my baby hiccup all the time . It's almost like gas or a thud or beat...with a slow rhythm.

Daddy is getting more & more excited. He always make a point to talk and touch Xavier every night and he always get a response from him.....

During my latest check up on 22-July. Through the ultra scan, every thing is normal.... Baby estimated weight is about 1.2kg which is slightly above average. Is Xavier going to be a big baby? Estimated to be 3.5-3.8kg by full term.

Another milestone is to set up xavier nursery corner... Stage 1: just done with the animal wall stickers..nice rite!

I can get to feel his intense movement, he wakes and sleeps at regular interval

Xavier also loves to interact with Mama & Papa while in the womb

Whenever Papa touches and calls his name, he will responds

For the past few weekends, I have been out shopping and spreeing online for baby stuff. I am so in love with my pregnancy now, the tummy is visble but not too heavy yet, mobile and still able to go for intensive shopping :) Just can't imagine when I'm in my 3rd trimester, feeling breathless and backache :( "sob, sob"

Been to major shopping malls, to compare prices for baby gears with those I bought during my 2 year stay in USA. Oh gosh... The baby gears here are so costly, easily $100 plus per item. wow wow wow! I cannot express how excited I am to finally be able to see how our baby looks like. It was amazing seeing Xavier so real! We saw him waving, kicking and clenching the fist.
He's so active throughout the scan ... Guess, he loves to take pictures! we even saw his Karata kick! Ouch..... counted all his fingers and little toes. At that moment, we felt so blessed.

The best view: From the front and side view... You can see his eye, nose and lips! Me & Hubby agrees that the nose looks like him and the lips looks like mine. So Adorable!

Finally, daddy gets to feel his first kick today and he felt not only once but twice. Daddy is simply over the moon.

At week 17, I started to feel our baby's movement
Is just like butterflies, a little itchy feeling :)
Tends to feel him whenever I am laying on my bed & when I am hungry
These tiny movements reassure us that the our baby is developing & bring us closer

I am now in my week 20, Xavier's movement is growing stronger and more frequent
He is more active during noon and night
especially after my meals, I can feel him twisting & tumble motion
So sad that Hubby cant feel him yet

weight -gain within an acceptable range of 2.4kg

Next, we proceed to visit Dr Ong

he is very nice, gentle and professional and never gives me a feeling being rushed during the appointment. we are so pleased to be in his care.

Now, comes to the last part of the visit- ultrasound

the moment Dr Ong place the device on my bulging belly

I can see Xavier laying comfortably in my womb :)

Then, Dr Ong determine Xavier's weight by

calculating the head circumference, stomach circumference & length of the limbs

Wow.... he has grew from 130grames to 300grames within 4weeks

Oops... Baby Xavier's weight is above average!

they even did a measurement of Xavier's genitals

Our baby boy is growing and mummy & daddy are getting excited day by day! I'm into my 18 weeks of pregnancy and baby will soon be able to detect noise outside the womb and identify our voices. My baby's legs are now longer than the arms and I should be starting to feel him move, especially since there's still a lot of room to move within the uterus.My baby's fingernails and toenails are growing too! How exciting! However I have not felt my baby move. I can't wait!

A miracle in the making

To all my dear friends, sorry for MIA for so long.. There were times that I wanted so much to pen down how I feel but due to old wives tales, I can only publicly announce it after 3 months. Don't get it wrong, I'm not being a superstitious mum but I rather choose to believe than sorry.

So far, I am 15weeks down, finally is the beginning of the second trimester, which is the most comfortable period for me. I am feeling more energetic and able to sleep better throughout the night (I got to pee 1 to 2 times; but go right back to sleep). I have a tiny bump not noticeable yet.

On 29 April, I went for the 5th ultrasound hoping that my gynae, Mr Douglas Ong will be able to find out the sex of my little one. Baby was sound asleep with both leg cross when the scan was done, Mr Ong got to move my belly to wake baby up. He did that for quite sometime but baby just refuse to cooperate. Just when he decided to give up, baby miraculous moves and Mr Ong caught a glimpse of it and confirmed that that is a baby-boy to be. It make it all seem so real! It was such an amazing moment.

1st scan: 16 Feb 11; 5 weeks old (EDD: 22 Oct 11)

2nd scan: 23 Feb 11; 6weeks old

3rd scan: 12 Mar 11; 8weeks old; 1.81cm

4th scan: 31 March 11; 10+weeks old; 4.63cm

5th scan: 29 Apr 11; 15weeks old, 9.24cm (130g)

The next visit will be in a month time, 27 May 11. Will update you guys again!!!!!

TGIF. Finally, don't have to wake up so early in the morning... don't have to stand in the overly crowded MRT... LOL! Women are always full of complaints.... just can't help it!

Updates on my job: Busy... Busy....Busy is the only word that I can think of. Been having OT for today and yesterday to clear up all the outstanding paper works. But I was happy that I was able to meet the deadline given by my boss. Part 1 mission accomplished! Monday will be another round of busy day.... amending/updating and printing all important documents.... oh gosh... better have a heavy breakfast... think going to have late lunch le!

Better don't think too much... will enjoy my GREAT weekend first!

First day @ Work

It was my first day at work today, and I am so thankful for my friends who remembered, and who took the trouble to SMS me. Thanks jasmine and Jocelyn. Appreciate it. Your prayers and blessings meant alot to me.

Well…. what can I say? The first day at work can be very intimidating – being in a different environment, starting on a new job scope and working with people you do not know. For me, it was a fabulous first day! Met my boss, and colleagues, and was whisked for my little orientation. Then, I was put on track immediately... boss handed all the urgent documents for me to follow up. I was occupied the whole day... love this kind of life!

Looking forward for more challenging days!!!!
